The Grove Music Festival presents An Evening with Gabriel Bolkosky and Michele Cooker at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 2014 at Chapel Lane Presbyterian Church, 5501 Jefferson Ave.
Bolkosky, a previous guest of the Grove Festival, will be joined by Cooker, a Midland native, in a concert of works of Prokofiev, Bloch, Kreisler and Sarasate . The recital will begin with a performance of the Vitali, Chaconne featuring Bolkosky and honors string students of both Dow and Midland High Schools. Mr. Bolkosky will also conduct a master-class for Midland Public School string players on Friday morning, January 30. The Midland Rotary Club funded a significant portion of the cost of the master-class and recital.
Bolkosky is executive and founding member of The Phoenix Ensemble of Ann Arbor, MI. A performer of both classical and improvisational violin, he has served as guest artist at workshops and schools around the country. In addition to performing regularly with Bolkosky, Cooker collaborates with members of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and other violinists throughout the Midwest.
