The Grove Music Festival presents “Classics for a Sunday Afternoon” at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Chapel Lane Presbyterian Church, 5501 Jefferson Ave.  Featured artists will be Ralph Skiano, clarinet, Wei Yu, cello and Pauline Martin, piano, of the Chamber Soloists of Detroit. Tickets are available at the door for $10.

Grove Music Festival regular, Pauline Martin, will be joined by Ralph Skiano and Wei Yu in a program featuring Beethoven, Saint-Saens, Bruch and Brahms.

Known for his beautiful sound and expressive playing, Ralph Skiano was appointed principal clarinetist of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra in 2017 after having served in the same position in the Detroit Symphony, the Richmond Symphony and the Des Moines Metro Opera.  Ralph has been involved in numerous music festivals and has served on the music faculty at James Madison University and the College of William and Mary. Wei Yu was appointed principal cellist of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra in 2014, after filling a section position with the New York Philharmonic for seven seasons.  An avid chamber musician, Wei has been invited to the Marlboro and Ravinia music festivals, and has recently collaborated with violinists Midori and Pinchas Zukerman, and members of the Guarneri and Juilliard Quartets.  Canadian born pianist, Pauline Martin, continues to earn world-class recognition for solo and chamber music performances, recordings and national broadcasts in the United States, Canada and Europe.
